Library

The AISC library is a student-focused place designed to support the intellectual, educational, recreational and cultural life of our community. The library program promotes both a life-long love of reading and a curriculum of skills for the 21st century learner.  In a world awash in information, we strive to teach our patrons the ability to find and use information and ideas effectively. The Library aims to foster learning and literacy that leads to high academic achievement, independent reading, and collaboration throughout the school.

Our Library is managed by a teacher-librarian, who is responsible for efficient library operation, resourcing, and organization.

Five principles guide our Library operations:
Information literacy The school library is supportive of both staff and students in the development of an information-literate school community.
Service The school library is managed by professional staff which provides support for the entire school community.
Reading The school library forms a foundation for the school’s literacy programs and acts as a catalyst for the development of lifelong readers.
Access The school library is a teaching and learning hub, with organized systems for accessing and managing information and resources.
Information resources The range and quality of resources in the library are collaboratively identified, selected and managed to meet the curricular and extra-curricular needs of the school.
